SINGAPORE, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- An oil spill occured off Singapore's Changi during a bunkering operation between a Bahamas-flagged bulk carrier and a licensed bunker tanker on Monday, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said Tuesday.

An estimated five tons of oil was reported to have overflowed before it was stopped. MPA patrol craft had sprayed dispersants.

MPA reported no oil sighted at sea near the accident and ashore as of 8:00 a.m. local time. A current buster has been deployed off Changi to recover oil on water as a precautionary measure. Enditem
