NEW DELHI -- At least 12 people were killed and 30 others injured, some of them critically, Tuesday after a bus carrying them crashed into a culvert in the western Indian state of Rajasthan, police said.

The accident took place in Laxmangarh of Sikar district, about 147 km northwest of Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan. According to police, the private bus full of passengers was travelling from Salasar to Nawalgarh when the mishap occurred. (India-Bus Crash)

ISLAMABAD -- One man was killed and five others were injured when a robber opened fire at a cash van and security guards outside a bank here on Tuesday, a police source said.

The incident happened in the busy G-9 area of the federal capital of Pakistan, where the unidentified robber, aboard a bike, fired upon the cash van, the sources told Xinhua.

"The robber carried out the assault using an unregistered motorbike, wore a helmet from a ride-hailing company, and was armed with a submachine gun," the sources added. (Pakistan-Bank-Robbery)

ULAN BATOR -- Mongolia and Kazakhstan announced on Tuesday the establishment of a strategic partnership, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations.

TOKYO -- Japan's labor market continued to see improvement in September as unemployment rate fell further, a government report showed Tuesday.

The seasonally adjusted jobless rate stood at 2.4 percent in September, down from 2.5 percent in August and marking two consecutive months of declines, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. (Japan-Jobless Rate)

TOKYO -- A nuclear reactor at the Onagawa Nuclear Power Plant in northeastern Japan will resume operation Tuesday, marking its first restart since the area was affected by the 2011 earthquake disaster, local media reported.

This will also mark the first boiling water reactor, the same type as the damaged Fukushima Daiichi reactors, to be reactivated since the disaster.

During the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, the Onagawa plant sustained significant damage, losing most of its external power supply and experiencing flooding in underground facilities. (Japan-Nuclear-Restart)

ZARANJ, Afghanistan -- Afghan authorities distributed China-donated aid, including blankets and rice, to needy families in Zaranj city, the provincial capital of western Afghanistan's Nimroz province, an official said on Tuesday.

The distribution of the assistance to the 350 needy families in Zaranj city started on Monday, said provincial director of the Natural Disaster Management Authority Mohammad Qasim Mohammad, adding that the process of distribution would last two or three days. (Afghanistan-China-Aid) Enditem
