ISTANBUL, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Authorities detained at least 28 suspected members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) during separate operations in Istanbul, Türkiye's largest city, and the western port city of Izmir on Wednesday.
An investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office revealed that 25 suspects had allegedly planned to incite street unrest in Istanbul using Molotov cocktails, according to the state-run Anadolu agency.
During police raids across Istanbul, 18 suspects were apprehended, with operations ongoing to locate the remaining individuals. The suspects are believed to be involved in the PKK's youth and political structures.
In a separate investigation by the Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 10 suspected PKK members were found to be engaged in terrorist propaganda, according to Anadolu.
All 10 individuals were captured and taken into custody in the raids on the suspects' homes. Additionally, a significant amount of organizational digital materials were seized during the searches.
Türkiye has intensified its operations against the PKK following a terrorist attack in northern Ankara last week, which killed five people and injured 22 others. Two assailants -- a man and a woman -- carried out the terror attack on the production facilities of the Turkish Aerospace Industries. The PKK had claimed responsibility for the attack. Enditem
