ROME, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Prices in Italy rose by 0.9 percent in October, indicating slight upward pressure even as inflation stayed below long-term trends and remained under the eurozone average.
Italy's National Statistics Institute, ISTAT, reported on Thursday that preliminary data showed a year-on-year price increase from October 2023 of 0.9 percent, up from 0.7 percent in the previous month. This marked the seventh time in 10 months that Italy's annualized monthly inflation rate stayed below one percent.
Compared to the previous month, October prices were largely unchanged.
Italy's inflation has consistently trailed that of the 20-member eurozone. According to Eurostat, prices in the euro area rose by 2 percent in October compared to October 2023.
ISTAT data also revealed a significant rise in unprocessed food prices, which increased by 3.3 percent in October, up from 0.3 percent in September, while regulated energy prices rose by 2 percent, down from 10.4 percent in the previous month. Enditem
