BEIRUT -- Israeli airstrikes on eastern and southern Lebanon killed 24 people and injured 19 others on Thursday, according to official and military sources in Lebanon.

The Lebanese military sources, who spoke anonymously, told Xinhua that Israeli warplanes and drones carried out 35 airstrikes in southern Lebanon and 12 in the east, including one that targeted a motorcycle in the Bekaa Valley in east Lebanon. (Lebanon-Israeli Airstrikes-Casualty)

DAMASCUS -- Israeli airstrikes on Thursday targeted several sites in and around the al-Qusayr city in central Syrian province of Homs, resulting in damage and five deaths, according to a war monitor and local media.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that three airstrikes hit Syrian territory on Thursday, targeting the Jisr al-Daf area south of al-Qusayr and several facilities in the city's industrial area. (Syria-Israeli Airstrikes-Casualty)

CAIRO -- The Egyptian armed forces on Thursday refuted claims circulating on social media that they were involved in supporting Israel's military operations.

The army said in a post on the X platform that "there is no form of cooperation with Israel."

BAGHDAD -- Iraqi lawmakers elected Mahmoud al-Mashhadani as the new parliament speaker on Thursday after the position had been vacant for nearly a year due to political differences.
