BEIJING, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- After nine rounds of the 2024-2025 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) League regular season, Zhejiang, Beijing and Shanxi are still on the top of the standings, each with an 8-1 record.
The Shanxi Loongs came from 19 points down to defeat the Guangdong Southern Tigers 103-99. Brandon Goodwin led Shanxi with 26 points. Jia Mingru added 14. Troy Gillenwater and Hu Mingxuan each had team-high 25 points for Guangdong. Xu Jie contributed 15 points and Ren Junfei added 14.
Jiangsu narrowed the deficit to two points by Cui Xiaolong's three-pointers with six seconds left before Chen Yingjun buried two throws to help the Beijing Ducks edge the Jiangsu Dragons 87-83. Eugene German led Beijing with 15 points, followed by Lei Meng's 13 points. Fan Ziming finished with 12 points and six rebounds. Terquavion Smith had 27 points and six assists for Jiangsu. Jiang Haoran and Cui Xiaolong contributed 12 points apiece.
The Zhejiang Lions smashed the Sichuan Blue Whales 105-89. Hu Jinqiu had 24 points and nine rebounds for Zhejiang. Nathan Knight added 21 points and 15 rebounds. Zhao Jiaren had 19 points and Sun Minghui finished with 13 points and 12 assists.
In other games, the Qingdao Eagles beat the Shenzhen Leopards 121-109, the Zhejiang Golden Bulls beat the Nanjing Monkey Kings 113-90, the Liaoning Flying Leopards beat the Fujian Sturgeons 116-100, the Ningbo Rockets beat the Shanghai Sharks 115-104, the Xinjiang Flying Tigers beat the Tianjin Pioneers 117-97, the Jilin Northeast Tigers beat the Guangzhou Loong Lions 114-94, and the Shandong Heroes beat the Beijing Royal Fighters 100-92.
