ALGIERS, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- Algeria celebrated on Friday the 70th anniversary of the launch of its Liberation Revolution against French colonial rule with a grand military parade.
In his address, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune emphasized that the celebration for the 70th anniversary reaffirms Algeria's enduring legacy of triumph, declaring, "Algeria, which once overcame colonialism, continues its path of victories with confidence."
He highlighted that the Algerian army's armaments serve solely for Algeria's defense, stressing the army is dedicated to safeguarding Algeria's sovereignty and contributing to international peace and security.
The military parade displayed a variety of aerial, naval, and land units, as well as defense equipment, including Su-30 fighter jets, long-range missile-capable submarines, air defense systems, and T-90 tanks.
On Nov. 1, 1954, the National Liberation Front of Algeria launched attacks against French targets within the country, initiating the Algerian War, which ultimately led to the nation's independence. Enditem
