ISTANBUL -- A fire erupted at the TUPRAS oil refinery in the northwestern Turkish province of Kocaeli on Tuesday, injuring 12 people, according to a statement from TUPRAS.

TUPRAS said a fire broke out at 1:30 p.m. local time (1030 GMT) during compressor maintenance at its Izmit refinery. According to initial assessments, 12 staffers were lightly injured, all of whom have been transferred to the hospital, the company added. (Türkiye-Oil Refinery Fire-Injuries)

GAZA -- At least 25 Palestinians were killed by Israeli bombing of a house in the town of Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip, the Palestinian official news agency WAFA reported on Tuesday.

BAGHDAD -- The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a Shiite militia group, on Tuesday claimed responsibility for six drone attacks on Israeli targets.

OTTAWA -- Maritime employers in Canada's British Columbia locked out more than 730 dock foremen across the country's west coast ports, including the largest port, Vancouver, in a labor dispute on Monday afternoon.
