BAKU, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Azerbaijan has almost finalized its preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), Nigar Arpadarai, the UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP29 Azerbaijan, confirmed in an interview with AZERTAC news agency.
COP29 is scheduled to take place at the Baku Olympic Stadium from Nov. 11 to 22, and is expected to be the largest event organized by Azerbaijan to date.
A professional team from the COP29 Operating Company has successfully executed all necessary measures to ensure the venue is ready for international participants, Arpadarai said. She emphasized that logistical, security, and technical preparations were thoroughly coordinated, allowing Azerbaijan to effectively host attendees from around the world.
"We started the process late, with just 11 months to prepare, while other countries typically have two years. Nevertheless, our joint efforts have positioned us to conduct the conference at the highest level," Arpadarai stated.
She said COP29 will not only serve as a platform for high-level discussions on climate issues but also provide a unique opportunity for diverse stakeholders, including governments, private sector representatives, civil society, and the media, to exchange views and propose solutions to pressing global climate challenges.
