BEIRUT -- At least 25 people were killed and 32 others wounded on Tuesday in Israeli airstrikes on different areas in Lebanon, Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA) reported.

According to NNA, an Israel airstrike targeting a residential apartment in Barja, a town in the Chouf district in Mount Lebanon, killed 15 people, and civil defense teams were still searching for casualties under the rubble. (Lebanon-Israeli Strike-Casualties)

DAMASCUS -- A loud explosion shook the central Syrian city of Homs and its surrounding areas late Tuesday, Syria's state television reported, adding that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blast.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a war monitor, confirmed the explosion, describing it as a "violent, unknown blast" that reverberated through Homs and nearby areas. (Syria-Explosion)

YAOUNDE -- At least three people were killed in a landslide in Cameroon's West region on Tuesday, according to the region's governor Augustine Fonka Awa.

Heavy rains triggered a landslide at a steep hill at La Falaise locality in Dschang town of the region, blocking road access. The authorities deployed excavators to reopen the closed roads, but a subsequent landslide buried emergency workers and vehicles that were waiting for the road to be cleared, Awa told reporters Tuesday evening. ROME -- Railway workers across Italy staged a strike on Tuesday, demanding increased workplace security after a train conductor was stabbed in the northern city of Genoa on Monday.

LUSAKA -- The head of the police in Zambia on Tuesday appealed to the government for the recruitment of 3,000 new officers ahead of the 2026 general elections.
