HANOI, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- The consumer price index (CPI) of Vietnam, which measures changes in the prices paid by consumers for a basket of goods and services, rose 3.78 percent on-year in the first 10 months of this year, the country's General Statistics Office announced on Wednesday.

The CPI in October increased 0.33 percent compared to the previous month and 2.89 percent year-on-year.

Price hikes last month were reported in 10 out of the 11 items in the calculation basket.

The rise in transport, restaurant and food service, education was attributed the most to the increased index in October, said the office.

Post and telecommunications were the only item reporting a decline in October due to the impacts of decreasing smartphone and tablet's prices. Enditem
