KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's services producer price index (SPPI), which measures changes in producer prices for Malaysia's domestic services sector, climbed 0.3 percent year on year in the third quarter.

The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement on Wednesday that the arts, entertainment and recreation index rose 5.4 percent in the third quarter, contributed by other amusement and recreation activities.

The index of accommodation and food and beverage service activities continued to increase by 2.4 percent, supported by beverage service activities and restaurants and mobile food service activities.

Meanwhile, the education index inched up 0.8 percent, driven by secondary education.

The health index grew 0.3 percent, while professional and real estate activities indices climbed 0.2 percent and 0.1 percent, respectively.

Conversely, the transport index shrank by 2 percent, dragged by the passenger air transport index.

The information and communication index continued to decrease by 0.1 percent due to lackluster growth of the wireless telecommunication activities index.

On a quarter-on-quarter basis comparison, the SPPI went up by 0.1 percent.

This was mainly underpinned by the growth in accommodation and food and beverage service activities and arts, entertainment and recreation. Enditem
