COLOMBO -- Sri Lanka's Cabinet of Ministers has approved the construction of 1,996 housing units for low-income families with funding provided by the Chinese government, cabinet spokesperson Vijitha Herath announced on Wednesday.

HANOI -- A military training aircraft crashed on Wednesday in the Vietnam's central province of Binh Dinh, leaving two pilots unaccounted for, Vietnam News Agency reported.

CANBERRA -- Australia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have officially upgraded their trade relationship to a comprehensive partnership.

YANGON -- Solar-powered wells built with China's assistance in central Myanmar's Nay Pyi Taw Council Area are benefiting local villagers, according to a statement from the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar on Tuesday.

As part of a rural drinking water project in Nay Pyi Taw, China's Yunnan Alternative Development Association has constructed the wells. One of them was put into operation in January and the other in July this year, the statement said. (Myanmar-China-Solar Well) Enditem
