BERLIN, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has dismissed Federal Minister of Finance Christian Lindner, German newspaper Bild reported on Wednesday evening.

The newspaper earlier reported that Lindner had proposed that new elections be held in early 2025, but Scholz has refused such a proposal.

Lindner made the remarks at a coalition committee meeting together with Scholz and Economics Minister Robert Habeck in Berlin amid challenges in reaching agreements on the 2025 budget and measures to revive the economy.

The scheduled Bundestag (lower house of parliament) election was on September 28, 2025. Enditem
