ADEN, Yemen, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Houthi group in Yemen said on Thursday that it would continue its military operations in the Red Sea in support of Palestine, regardless of potential policy changes following the U.S. presidential election.

"Our military operations will continue to target ships linked to Israeli, American, and British interests," said Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, the group's leader, in a televised speech on the Houthi-operated al-Masirah television channel.

Neither U.S. leadership changes nor military pressure would alter the group's stance on the Palestinian issue, al-Houthi said, calling for the United States and its allies to "end the aggression and siege on Gaza."

Since November 2023, the Houthi group has been conducting missile and drone attacks on what it said were "Israeli-linked" ships in regional waters and beyond, as well as targets in Israel, to show solidarity with Palestinians amid the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that erupted on Oct. 7, 2023.

In response, the U.S.-British naval coalition stationed in the region has since January conducted regular air raids and missile strikes against Houthi targets to deter the group. Enditem
