DAMASCUS, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Three people were killed and several others injured in an Israeli airstrike on Sunday targeting two sites allegedly housing Hezbollah fighters in the Sayyidah Zaynab area on the outskirts of Syria's capital Damascus, a war monitor reported.
According to Britain-based watchdog group the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the attack was aimed at specific individuals in an apartment within a residential building in Sayyidah Zaynab.
Sources in the area confirmed to Xinhua that three bodies were transported to a local hospital following the attack.
Earlier, Syrian state TV reported that explosions were heard in Sayyidah Zaynab as an Israeli airstrike targeted a residential building there.
The attack caused significant damage to the building, according to the television, without offering official reports of any casualties.
Sayyidah Zaynab, located just south of the Syrian capital, is home to a prominent Shiite shrine and has been the target of Israeli attacks in the past.
Israel has conducted numerous airstrikes in Syria in recent years, targeting what it says are Iranian military assets and arms transfers to Hezbollah. Enditem
