NEW DELHI, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- At least four women died and five others were injured after a heavy mound of soil collapsed on them in north India on Tuesday, confirmed a local official over the phone.
The victims had gone to the spot to collect soil for construction or renovation work at their respective homes.
The incident happened in northern state Uttar Pradesh's Kasganj district. Initially all nine women were trapped under the soil dune. After much effort by the local villagers, five women were rescued in time, while the rest four died.
Those rescued were later admitted to a local hospital for necessary medical treatment, added the local official. Enditem
