WINDHOEK, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- The Kasi Cup, an annual event dedicated to promoting sports and community engagement in Namibia's capital city informal settlements, was officially launched Tuesday in Windhoek.

The Kasi Cup, launched in 2011, aims to inspire and encourage individuals in informal settlements to participate in sports and leisure activities. This year, the event will take place on November 16 and 17 at the Johnny Ya Otto Stadium, located in the informal settlement of Wanahenda.

The organizers, the City Of Windhoek municipal authority, announced that there will be 1,826 players from different informal communities participating in the competition.

In addition, 108 players from nine netball teams entered the competition.

All of Windhoek's informal settlements, including Greenwell Matongo, Havana, Okahandja Park, Ombili, Hakahana, Otjomuise, Babilon, Goreangab, 7de Laan, 8ste Laan, Oshitenda, Groot-Aub, Ongulumbashe, Mix, and Ozohambo zaKuaima, will be represented.

The event celebrating sports and community engagement in Windhoek's informal settlements includes not only soccer but also netball, promoting a diverse and inclusive sporting experience for all participants. Enditem
