NEW DELHI -- India's factory activity growth, determined by the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), grew 3.1 percent in September, government data showed Tuesday.
The IIP growth rate for September 2024 was 3.1 percent, compared to a contraction of 0.1 percent in August, reported the federal ministry of statistics and program implementation. (India-Industrial Production Index-September)

HANOI -- Vietnam's domestically-assembled car sales in October surpassed imported cars', Vietnam News Agency reported Tuesday, citing the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association.
Domestically-assembled cars reported an 8 percent increase in consumption with 21,113 cars sold in October while imported cars rose 3 percent in consumption with 17,648 cars sold. (Vietnam Car sales)

COLOMBO -- Scholarship for Visually Impaired students 2024 was held on Nov. 12 in Colombo, capital of Sri Lanka, where 30 visually impaired students from low-income families received scholarships funded by China's Guangzhou Foundation for International Exchange and Cooperation.
Gunaratne, president of the Sri Lanka Council for the Blind, said in the speech that the council has been dedicated to providing services for the visually impaired people in Sri Lanka. TOKYO -- Japan's single-member households are projected to account for over 40 percent of all households in 27 prefectures by 2050, with Tokyo leading at 54.1 percent, a research institute report showed Tuesday.
The number of single-person households among elderly individuals aged 65 and over is expected to increase sharply, reaching over 20 percent of all households in 32 prefectures by 2050, according to the National Institute of Population and Social Security Research. (Japan-Single-Household) Enditem
