ENTEBBE, Uganda, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Host Uganda has maintained its unbeaten run as it stopped Italy by 24 runs on Wednesday in the on-going International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket World Cup Challenge B tournament.
The two teams went into the match at the Entebbe Cricket Oval tied at 5 points apiece.
Uganda Cricket Cranes elected to bat first and put on 254/9 in 50 ovals with Dinesh Nakrani coming out top with 58 runs. Team captain Riazat Ali Shah also collected 57 runs, while Raghav Dhawan had 46 runs.
After the interval, the Italian team captained by Marcus Campopiano started on a high, but collapsed by 230 runs in 49.3 ovals for the host to win by 24 runs. Joe Burns collected a game high 82 runs for Italy, while Emilio Gay had 50 runs. Campopiano managed a miserable 10 runs.
Uganda coach Abhay Sharma told Xinhua after the tough encounter that he was pleased with the good display of his team. "I am very happy that we batted first and also the fielding was very good. We need to continue with the same spirit," said Sharma. Enditem
