KABUL, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan caretaker government's Ministry of Education has built 125 school buildings over the past six months across the country, spokesman for the ministry reported.

Built at a cost of nearly 18 million U.S. dollars, the school buildings have been constructed with the financial support of aid organizations and wealthy persons, local media Tolonews quoted Mansoor Ahmad Hamza, spokesman for the ministry, as saying on Thursday.

Hamza added that about 11 million children are currently attending state-owned and private schools in the war-ravaged Asian country.

Based on restrictions by the Afghan caretaker government, girls cannot attend classes above grade six, and females are banned from universities until further notice. Enditem
