ANKARA, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Türkiye and Qatar signed on Thursday eight agreements to deepen bilateral cooperation.

The signing ceremony was held in the Turkish capital and attended by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and visiting Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who arrived earlier here on Thursday for high-level meetings.

The agreements cover cooperation in areas including trade, defense, humanitarian aid, document and archive management, media and communication, youth and sports, and road transport.

The two leaders also co-chaired a meeting of the Türkiye-Qatar High Strategic Committee.

Türkiye and Qatar have strengthened their military and economic cooperation, particularly since 2017, when regional countries including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Bahrain severed diplomatic ties with Qatar, accusing Doha of supporting terrorism. Enditem
