NEW YORK -- After years of investing heavily in streaming, Disney's direct-to-consumer business swung to a profit of 321 million U.S. dollars in the September quarter from a loss of 387 million dollars a year earlier.

BRUSSELS -- The European Commission announced on Thursday that it will evaluate whether Booking Holdings, which operates the online platform Booking.com for short-term real estate rentals, complies with the Digital Markets Act (DMA).
In its statement, the Commission noted that Booking Holdings, designated as a "gatekeeper" in May, must ensure its online intermediation service, Booking.com, meets all relevant obligations under the DMA. (DMA-Booking)

NEW YORK -- U.S. auto-safety regulators on Thursday hit Ford Motor with a hefty civil fine of 165 million U.S. dollars for delaying the recall of more than 600,000 vehicles with defective rearview cameras.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said the penalty is the second-largest in its history and is part of a consent order that will also require Ford to review all recalls it has issued over the past three years to ensure they have been adequate. (US-Ford-Fine)
