WARSAW -- The roof of a warehouse hall at a former bus depot in Mlawa County, northern Poland, collapsed on Wednesday, leading to two deaths and three injuries.

DAMASCUS -- At least 36 people were killed and more than 50 others wounded by an Israeli missile attack that hit sites in and around the city of Palmyra in central Syria on Wednesday, according to the Syrian Defense Ministry.

"Around 1:30 p.m. this afternoon, the Israeli enemy carried out an air aggression from the direction of the al-Tanf area, targeting a number of buildings in the city of Palmyra in the Syrian desert, which led to the martyrdom of 36 people and the injury of more than 50 others, and caused significant material damage to the targeted buildings and the surrounding area," the ministry said in a statement. WASHINGTON -- The U.S. embassy in Kiev said it would be closed in a warning on Wednesday after receiving "specific information of a potential significant air attack," telling employees to shelter in place.

"Out of an abundance of caution, the Embassy will be closed," it said, adding that the "U.S. Embassy recommends U.S. citizens be prepared to immediately shelter in the event an air alert is announced." (U.S.-Ukraine-Embassy Closure)

MANILA -- Philippine Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel has authorized the Bureau of Animal Industry to set up livestock, poultry and meat industry inspection sites in Metro Manila and surrounding areas to control the spread of animal diseases, the country's Department of Agriculture said Wednesday.

"These livestock, poultry, and meat industry inspection sites should serve as a defensive wall against the spread of animal diseases that threaten not only the local livestock and poultry industries but also public health and food security," Laurel said. (Philippines-Agriculture-Animal Diseases)

YAOUNDE -- Rescue operations at the site of a devastating landslide in Cameroon's West region have concluded, two weeks after a steep hillside collapsed, burying several passenger vehicles in La Falaise, near Dschang Town, local authorities said Wednesday.

"We have officially stopped the rescue efforts because there are no hopes of recovering corpses. Twelve corpses have been retrieved. Twelve other corpses are declared missing," the region's governor Augustine Fonka Awa confirmed to Xinhua. (Cameroon-Landslide-Rescue) Enditem
