LONDON -- Strong winds, heavy rain, and flooding brought by Storm Bert caused travel disruption and power outages across the United Kingdom (UK) over the weekend, leaving three men dead.

YAOUNDE -- Two separatist fighters, including a commander, were killed when government forces of Cameroon struck their hideout early on Sunday in the country's war-torn Anglophone region of Northwest, according to local and security sources.

TEHRAN -- Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said on Sunday that deputy foreign ministers of Iran, France, Germany, and Britain will meet on Friday for talks on bilateral as well as Tehran's nuclear issue, among other topics.

BUCHAREST -- Independent candidate Calin Georgescu has taken a narrow lead in Romania's presidential election, securing 21.9 percent of the vote with 77 percent of ballots counted, according to partial results released late on Sunday night.

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, the chairman of the Social Democratic Party, trailed closely with 21.3 percent. Elena Lasconi, the leader of the Save Romania Union, is in third place at 16.3 percent, followed by George Simion, the leader of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians at 14.5 percent.
