CAIRO -- A total of 17 people, including tourists and Egyptian crew members, were missing after their safari boat sank off the northern area of Marsa Alam city at the Red Sea, the Egyptian Red Sea Province said on its official Facebook page on Monday.

BUCHAREST -- Independent candidate Calin Georgescu and Elena Lasconi, leader of the Save Romania Union, will face off in the second round of Romania's 2024 presidential election on Dec. 8, according to near-complete results from the Permanent Electoral Authority.

ANKARA -- Turkish authorities apprehended 1,298 immigrants and 43 smugglers, seven of whom were foreign nationals, during a nationwide operation, Türkiye's Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on Monday.

JOHANNESBURG -- The South African Police Service (SAPS) on Monday announced the arrest of 14 illegal miners who emerged from an abandoned mine in Stilfontein, North West province, after weeks underground in a standoff with police.
