MANILA -- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has launched its Environment Action Plan 2024-2030, a road map for addressing the impacts of the triple planetary crisis of biodiversity loss, pollution, and climate change in Asia and the Pacific, the multilateral lender said Monday.

Under the plan, the ADB aims to expand the scale and scope of nature-positive investments and mainstream environment into relevant operations and investments, while working to conserve the environment and nature as a vehicle for economic growth and improved livelihoods. COLOMBO -- Over 50,000 people have been affected by rain-related disasters in 10 administrative districts in Sri Lanka since Nov. 22, according to the country's Disaster Management Center (DMC) on Monday.

The DMC said 52,629 people from 15,023 families have been affected due to disasters such as floods, strong winds, lightning and tree falls in these districts in Northern, Uva, North Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and Eastern Provinces. (Sri Lanka-Rains-Disaster)

ULAN BATOR -- Mongolia's foreign exchange reserves have reached 4.96 billion U.S. dollars as of Nov. 22, the Bank of Mongolia announced on Monday.

The reserves have increased by 0.8 percent since the beginning of the year and recorded a growth of over 15 percent compared to the same period in 2023, according to a statement from the central bank. (Mongolia-Forex Reserves)

KABUL -- A three-day site-to-site anti-polio campaign kicked off in 11 out of Afghanistan's 34 provinces on Monday, according to the Ministry of Public Health.

Sharafat Zaman Amarkhail, the ministry's spokesperson, said 5.3 million children under the age of five were expected to receive vaccine doses during the campaign from Nov. 25 to 27. (Afghanistan-Vaccine) Enditem
