CAIRO, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty urged on Tuesday for "unconditional" entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza "to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people."

During his meeting with his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani in Italy on the sidelines of the two-day Group of Seven foreign ministers' meeting, Abdelatty said Cairo will hold a ministerial conference on Dec. 2 to enhance the humanitarian response in Gaza, according to a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

Abdelatty also warned of the seriousness of the situation in the West Bank due to Israel's continued settlement expansion policy, the statement said.

Egypt's official news agency MENA reported earlier this month that the Cairo ministerial conference is expected to be attended by representatives of all concerned UN agencies.

Israel has been staging a large-scale offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip to retaliate against a Hamas rampage through the southern Israeli border on Oct. 7, 2023, during which about 1,200 people were killed and about 250 taken hostage.

The Palestinian death toll from ongoing Israeli attacks in Gaza has risen to 44,249, with injuries up to 104,746, Gaza-based health authorities said in a statement on Tuesday. Enditem
