VIENTIANE, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Representatives from the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Service Center and Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI) met to review the progress of their collaboration with development partners to strengthen micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Laos.

They gathered in Vientiane province for a consultation conference aimed at assessing past plans and activities, particularly the implementation of the socio-economic development plan for 2025 to 2030, according to the LNCCI's report on Wednesday.

The event focused on drafting joint activity plans in collaboration with provincial SME service centers and development partners.

The SME Service Center is a key pillar of the LNCCI's strategy, facilitating activities to promote SMEs in line with the policies set by the Party and government.

Since 2019, SME service centers have been established in six provinces: Luang Prabang, Oudomxay, Luang Namtha, Bolikhamxay, Savannakhet, and Champasak.

At the meeting, representatives from each provincial SME service center presented reports on their past achievements and collaborated to develop joint activity plans. These plans aim to foster the growth of the business sector by strengthening services for SME entrepreneurs.

The centers also facilitate the exchange of advice, lessons learned, and information on trade, investment, finance, markets, and access to capital. Additionally, they focus on encouraging innovation to improve products and services, enhance competitiveness, and create added value in line with market economy mechanisms.

The SME Service Center serves as a hub for promoting and supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises in Laos. It coordinates efforts between the government and the business sector, providing essential information and strengthening the overall business environment. Enditem
