WARSAW, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- After beating Brest 3-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday evening, FC Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski expressed his pride at scoring his 100th and 101st goals in the European competition.

The Pole put the host ahead in the 10th minute with a penalty after a mistake from Brest goalkeeper Marco Bizot, who charged into the striker's back and bundled him over. In the stoppage time the 36-year-old netted his 101st goal in the tournament to make it 3-0.

Lewandowski became the third player in Champions League history to reach 100 goals in the competition. Poland's captain sits behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who scored 140 and 129 goals respectively in all-time classification.

"I'm very happy. Years ago, I didn't think I would score more than 100 goals in the Champions League. We did the job as a team," the striker was quoted as saying by Polish media on Wednesday.

Lewandowski believes that the team could have played even better.

"To be honest, we didn't play well after the break. We have to go for 100 percent from the first minute. We need more patience. Sometimes we play a bit slow, but the most important thing was securing three points."

For Lewandowski, it's been a perfect season so far. He found the net 22 times to be the leader of the top scorer classification in both the Champions League and La Liga.

"I believe the most important thing is to help my teammates by scoring goals. I want FC Barcelona to win every next game and this is the main goal," the Pole concluded. Enditem
