TASHKENT, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan has attracted over 26 billion U.S. dollars in foreign investments during the first 10 months of this year, the press service of the Uzbek President said on Wednesday.
Of the total, around 24 billion dollars are direct investments, the press service said in a statement.
It added that these funds have enabled the launch of 6,300 new enterprises, with an additional 8.6 billion dollars in investments expected to be attracted by the end of the year.
On the same day, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting to review the progress in foreign investments and to outline plans for the coming year. He stressed the need to enhance investment activity in the region, calling for a fundamental change in the approach to the sector. Enditem
