ZARANJ, Afghanistan, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Counter-narcotics police have apprehended 75 drug addicts in Zaranj city, the provincial capital of Nimroz province in western Afghanistan, and have sent them to a rehabilitation center, according to Abdul Wasi Raihan, the provincial director of counter-narcotics police.

The official stated that after completing their rehabilitation and recovering their health, these individuals will be reunited with their families to facilitate their reintegration into society.

Afghanistan, a country profoundly impacted by decades of conflict, is reportedly home to over 3 million drug addicts. The Afghan caretaker government, which has banned poppy cultivation and drug trafficking, is committed to eradicating drug production and addiction, with the goal of making the nation drug-free.
