GAZA, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- At least 27 Palestinians were killed on Thursday as Israeli forces continued to pound targets across the Gaza Strip, with a focus on the Nuseirat camp in central Gaza.

Al-Awda Hospital in central Gaza reported receiving 16 bodies and 55 injured individuals since the morning, following heavy air and artillery strikes in the Nuseirat area.

The hospital accused Israeli forces of directly targeting ambulance workers as they attempted to evacuate besieged families from northern Nuseirat.

Palestinian security sources confirmed that Israeli artillery shelled multiple homes in the camp, while witnesses reported the army deploying vehicles and conducting destructive operations in northern Nuseirat. Eyewitnesses also stated that Israeli strikes hit a food distribution center, injuring displaced Palestinians, and targeted the upper floors of three residential buildings in the camp.

In the southern Gaza Strip, four Palestinians were killed when Israeli shelling struck a bicycle near a camp for displaced persons in Abasan, east of Khan Younis, according to Nasser Hospital.

In northern Gaza, paramedics reported four deaths in Beit Lahia after Israeli warplanes bombed two homes in the area. Two more people were killed when strikes hit the entrance to Kamal Adwan Hospital, and another person died in the Jabalia camp due to Israeli bombardment.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have not commented on these specific incidents. However, a Wednesday statement from the IDF confirmed continued military operations in Jabalia and Beit Lahia in northern Gaza.

Gaza-based health authorities reported that the death toll among Palestinians has reached 44,282 as of Wednesday, underscoring the devastating human cost of the conflict. Enditem
