PRAGUE, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky and his Israeli counterpart Gideon Sa'ar met on Thursday to discuss the Middle East situation and bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, Lipavsky welcomed the ceasefire deal reached between Israel and Lebanon earlier this week, according to a statement from the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"I welcome the ceasefire agreement ... This agreement offers hope for calming the situation in the whole region," Lipavsky said.

Israel's security cabinet on Tuesday night approved a ceasefire deal with Lebanon, paving the way for an end to a nearly 14-month conflict.

On the social media platform X, Sa'ar commended relations between Israel and the Czech Republic. He invited Lipavsky to visit Israel to further strengthen ties between the two countries.

Also on Thursday, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala met with Sa'ar. Enditem
