VIENTIANE, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Lao authorities have handled a total of 3,395 drug-related cases, arresting 5,168 suspects over the past 11 months.
According to the Lao Security News, the figures were announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security Vilay Lakhamphong at the ongoing session of the National Assembly.
He highlighted the government's unwavering commitment to combat drug-related issues despite challenges.
Lao treatment and rehabilitation centers are currently supporting 5,132 drug addicts. Of these, 2,513 have completed treatment and returned home, while 2,619 remain under care.
The Lao government will continue to work with relevant departments at all levels to intensify measures to suppress drug trade and eliminate drug abuse in the country. Enditem
