ISLAMABAD, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of police thwarted a terrorist attack by arresting 11 terrorists in Lahore district of the country's eastern Punjab province, said an official on Saturday.
A spokesperson of the CTD said in a statement that the detained terrorists of outlawed groups, armed with weapons, explosives, and maps of sensitive locations, were plotting to target a key government facility.
The CTD also recovered a cache of items from their custody, including maps of key buildings, arms and ammunition, explosive materials, detonators, safety fuse wire, bullets, weapons, hand grenades and improvised explosives devices.
According to the details, the CTD conducted 242 intelligence-driven operations across Punjab, resulting in the arrest of 34 terrorists in districts, including Lahore, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, and Rahim Yar Khan.
Additionally, the law enforcement agencies, along with intelligence support, carried out 7,536 combing operations in November, leading to the interrogation of over 235,000 individuals and the detention of 637 suspects.
