ABU DHABI -- President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with visiting Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Sunday to discuss strategies to prevent further crises in the Middle East.
During the meeting, the two leaders "stressed the importance of fostering Arab cooperation in light of the complex challenges facing the region," UAE's official news agency WAM reported. (UAE-Politics-Mideast)

ADEN, Yemen -- A Houthi drone attack on a popular market in Yemen's Taiz province killed six people and injured eight others on Sunday, a military official told Xinhua.
The local pro-government military official, who requested anonymity, said that "the Houthi bombing occurred in the Maqbanah district of Taiz during a busy market day when dozens of local residents were present." (Yemen-Drone-Attacks)

MANILA -- The Philippines' Department of Health (DOH) said Sunday that the number of HIV cases or people living with HIV (PLHIV) in the country was estimated to hit 215,400 before 2024 ends.
Of the estimated PLHIV, 131,335 cases have been diagnosed or laboratory-confirmed and currently living or not reported to have died, as of September, the DOH said. (Philippines-HIV)

RAMALLAH -- Four Palestinians were killed on Sunday by Israeli army fire in Jenin, the northern West Bank, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
The ministry said in a press statement that the four victims, whose identities were still unknown, died during an "occupation assault" on the town of Sir, southeast of Jenin. (West Bank-Israel-Attack)

BUCHAREST -- Romania's Social Democratic Party (PSD), part of the ruling coalition, is projected to win the most seats in Sunday's parliamentary elections, according to exit polls by the Center for Urban and Regional Sociology and ARA Public Opinion SRL.
The exit polls projected PSD to secure 26.1 percent of the vote for the Senate and 26 percent for the Chamber of Deputies, giving it a lead of around 7 percentage points against the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR). (Romania-Parliamentary Election) Enditem
