LOS ANGELES, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Disney's animated musical "Moana 2" set a new record for the highest five-day Thanksgiving opening, according to the measurement firm Comscore's data released Sunday.
The film has grossed 221 million dollars since its Wednesday release, surpassing the 204.6 million dollars earned by 2023's "The Super Mario Bros. Movie."
The film also made big waves at the international box office, bringing its global total to 386 million dollars.
The sequel to the 2016 hit Moana follows Moana and Maui on a new voyage with an unlikely crew, earning an "A-" CinemaScore and an 87 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Alongside Universal's "Wicked" and Paramount's "Gladiator II", "Moana 2" helped deliver the biggest Thanksgiving box office haul in cinematic history. Enditem
