SEOUL, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Thirty-eight Vietnamese tourists went missing in South Korea's southern resort island of Jeju, Yonhap news agency said Tuesday, citing the island's tourism organization.

About 90 Vietnamese travelers arrived on the island on a chartered VietJet Air flight on Nov. 14.

Among them, 38 tourists severed contact and disappeared at the final stop of their itinerary, failing to board the return flight.

Foreigners are allowed to stay on the island without a visa for up to 30 days. The Vietnamese visitors would become illegal migrants after Dec. 14.

The island's immigration office checked surveillance cameras to find out their whereabouts. Enditem
