HANOI, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's inflation in 2024 is projected to reach 4 to 4.5 percent, higher than the 3.5 percent of 2023, Vietnam News cited a report from the country's Banking Research Institute on Tuesday.

The higher projection was mainly due to soaring global energy and food prices, coupled with the impact of Typhoon Yagi, which has significantly increased domestic production costs and consumer prices, according to the institute.

According to the latest update of the General Statistics Office, Vietnam's core inflation in October rose by 0.23 percent month-on-month and by 2.68 percent from the same period last year.

The National Assembly has set the target of the 2024 inflation rate to below 4.5 percent. Enditem
