COLOMBO, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's total exports posted an increase of 18.57 percent in October compared to the corresponding month of last year, the country's export development board (EDB) said on Tuesday.

Quoting data from Sri Lankan customs, the EDB said the merchandise exports in October 2024 amounted to 1 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 18.22 percent compared to October 2023.

This was mainly due to an increase in earnings from exports of apparel and textiles, tea, rubber-based products, coconut-based products and spices and concentrates, according to the EDB.

The estimated value of services exports for October 2024 was 323 million dollars, increasing 19.75 percent over the corresponding period of 2023, the EDB said. Enditem
