RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian midfielder Eduardo Queiroz will return to Zenit Saint Petersburg in January after parting ways with Gremio, the Porto Alegre club said on Tuesday.
In a statement, Gremio said it chose not to exercise an option to secure Queiroz on a permanent deal following a 10-month loan from the Russian Premier League side.
"[We] thank Queiroz for the commitment shown while wearing the Tricolor shirt, and we wish him success in the next stage of his career," the statement read.
Queiroz made 28 appearances across all competitions for Gremio but has been used sparingly by manager Renato Portaluppi in recent weeks.
The 24-year-old, who began his professional career at Corinthians, is contracted to Zenit Saint Petersburg until June 2028. Enditem
