BERLIN, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- According to Joshua Kimmich, Bayern Munich is suffering from a top team problem.

Following the painful German Cup exit against the reigning German champion Leverkusen, the German national team captain spoke about "sobering results" against national and international leading sides.

"We haven't won the games against Barcelona, Dortmund, Frankfurt, and twice Leverkusen. This is part of the bitter truth this season. This can't be satisfying for us," the 29-year-old midfielder said.

Only having beaten PSG, three draws and three defeats followed against top teams. Kimmich said the results are frustrating.

While the Bavarians are enjoying a four-point lead in the German first flight and made progress in the newly formed UEFA Champions League, new Bayern coach Vincent Kompany is struggling to create stability.

Having missed the current season's first title, triggered disappointment in Munich despite Kompany drawing a promising picture and speaking about "that we are going to win titles if we continue."

Despite his coach's judgment, Kimmich expressed a warning shot. "If I take the first half against PSG and Dortmund, I must say, I have the impression we lack the power we had at the season start, we are not at 100 percent."

The midfielder said he hopes this setback is encouraging "us to improve and invest more."

While negotiations about a contract extension with Bayern continue, the 97-time capped said: "Football is about winning nothing else. I am annoyed we spoiled the season's first title opportunity. We must be clear and honest on that."

Other than Bayern board member sports, Max Eberl, the midfielder said the red card for keeper Manuel Neuer didn't change "anything. We met our limits and performed well, up to our full capacity, with eleven players as we did with 10."

From Eberl's perspective, the early red card in the 17th minute, Neuer's first in 864 professional games, changed everything for the Bavarians. The official spoke about a crucial and game-changing point while Bayern in the fifth consecutive year missed the Cup final.

Kimmich announced he is to decide about his Bayern future in the upcoming winter break "when I have a better view of the entire picture."

While Bayern is offering a contract extension coming along with the team captain's band, the midfielder is said to be considering a change and possibly taking off for what is described as the last adventure in his career.

Leading European sides such as PSG are said to be interested in signing the German captain who joined Bayern in 2015.

Next to Kimmich, the German record champion is working on a contract extension for genius Jamal Musiala. Reports say, that offered salaries might be one of the cracking points. Enditem
