PRAGUE, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Czech police reported on Wednesday that they had received a report of gunshots heard on a university campus in the western Czech city of Pilsen.

"We received a report about shots fired on the premises of the University of West Bohemia in Univerzitni Street in Plzen. A large number of police forces and resources immediately went to the scene," police said on social media platform X.

A rapid deployment unit was called in, and a helicopter was monitoring the area from above, police added.

In updated statements, police clarified that the shooting had not yet been confirmed and no injuries had been reported. However, as a precautionary measure, people were being evacuated from the campus using evacuation buses.

Interior Minister Vit Rakusan said on X that he was in contact with the university's rector and local authorities to monitor the situation closely. Enditem
