Over 218,500 firms newly established, resume operations in Vietnam in 11 months

HANOI, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- More than 218,500 enterprises were newly established or resumed operations in Vietnam in the past 11 months of 2024, a year-on-year increase of 7.4 percent, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

During the January-November period, the country saw over 147,200 new enterprises set up with a total registered capital of over 1.45 quadrillion Vietnamese dong (57.1 billion U.S. dollars), a reduction of 0.5 percent in the number of enterprises while the registered capital is relatively equal to that of the same period last year.

The average registered capital of a newly established enterprise during the cited period reached 9.9 billion dong (0.39 million dollars), an increase of 0.5 percent compared to the same period in 2023, said GSO.

New firms in the service sector increased by 0.2 percent while those in the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector declined by 8.6 percent and the industry and construction down 2.6 percent.

Nearly 71,300 enterprises resumed their operations in 11 months, an increase of 28.5 percent year on year. Enditem
