JERUSALEM, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- A drone launched by militants in Yemen struck a residential building in a city in central Israel on Monday, the Israeli military said in a statement.
Residents in Yavne, a city south of Tel Aviv, reported a large explosion. The drone hit the top floor of a 15-story building in the city, according to Israel's Magen David Adom, which said no injuries were reported.
Photos on social media showed black smoke rising from the building, with one apartment visibly damaged.
Israel's aerial defense systems failed to detect the drone, and no air raid siren was activated, as is customary in such cases. "The incident is under review," the military stated.
It marks the first drone attack on Israel since a Lebanon-Israel ceasefire came into effect on Nov. 27. Enditem
