SINGAPORE, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- November 2024 will go down as a record-breaking month for Singapore's weather, as the National Environment Agency (NEA) announced Monday that the island recorded an average rainfall of 419.0 mm, the highest for November since 1980.

This rainfall total surpassed the month's long-term average by 47.4 percent, breaking the previous record of 390.1 mm set in November 1992.

The NEA also reported that Singapore experienced its hottest December day on record last Saturday. Temperatures in Paya Lebar in eastern Singapore reached 36.2 degrees Celsius, exceeding the previous high of 35.9 degrees set on Dec. 6, 2016.

"After a wet start to Dec 2024, there were a few days with little or no rainfall and high temperatures," the agency noted in a Facebook post.

On Nov. 16, a heavy downpour caused a flash flood in northwestern Singapore, as the region received one of the highest recorded daily rainfalls in 46 years. Enditem
