RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- Brazil World Cup-winning manager Luiz Felipe Scolari has lavished praise on Palmeiras forward Estevao, predicting a bright future for the Chelsea-bound teenager.

Estevao, who will join the English Premier League club in July 2025, has enjoyed a breakout season at Palmeiras with 19 goals and nine assists in 50 matches across all competitions.

Scolari, who guided Brazil to World Cup glory in 2002, said he had spoken with current national team manager Dorival Junior about the 17-year-old's progress.

"One of the things he [Dorival] tells me is that this boy attracts attention," Scolari said. "It's because of the way he behaves as a player and as a person. We would just like him to continue doing what he does at Palmeiras and for Chelsea. That he continues like this, with boldness, dribbling."

Estevao was rewarded for his impressive form with a first Brazil call-up in August, and he has since earned four caps for the five-time world champion.

In addition to his kudos for Estevao, Scolari expressed admiration for Palmeiras manager Abel Ferreira.

The 45-year-old Portuguese has overseen one of the most successful periods in Palmeiras' history, guiding the Sao Paulo club to two Brazilian Serie A crowns and two Copa Libertadores titles since his arrival in 2020.

"In the last 30 years, no one has won as much as Abel," said Scolari, whose 42-year managerial career included three spells in charge of Palmeiras.

"That he didn't win a major title this year doesn't mean he's not doing a great job. My advice to Abel is to continue with his work and his ideas, because he's one of the greatest managers to have ever been at Palmeiras." Enditem
