KINSHASA, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) will become "a regional hub of creativity" with the upcoming inauguration of the China-aided Central African Cultural and Arts Center, President Felix Tshisekedi said Wednesday.
"Thanks to our cooperation with China, (the project) positions our country as a regional hub of creativity," the president said in his State of the Nation address before the two houses of Parliament.
This center, whose foundation stone was laid by Tshisekedi himself in 2019, is a place "dedicated to expression, training, innovation and exchanges between creators" from the sub-region and the African continent, he said.
It features a grand theater with 2,000 seats and a smaller 800-seat auditorium. It will also house the new campus of the DRC National Institute of Arts, renowned for training generations of Congolese musicians and artists.
The president also mentioned other infrastructure projects built by Chinese companies, including the Kinshasa ring roads. Upon completion, these projects are expected to greatly enhance connectivity across the country. Enditem
