MADRID, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- La Liga side Real Valladolid on Saturday named Argentina's Diego Cocca as its new head coach for the remainder of the season, with the task of helping the club avoid relegation.

Cocca, 52, who has never coached in Europe, replaces Paulo Pezzolano, who was sacked two weeks ago with Valladolid bottom of La Liga.

The confirmation of his signing came a day after B-team coach Alvaro Rubio was in the dugout for Friday's 1-0 win at home to Valencia, which lifted Valladolid above Valencia in the standings.

The club confirmed that Cocca will remain in charge for the 2025-26 season if he is able to lead the team to safety this campaign. Enditem
